Business Segments
The company is a level 2 contributor to BBBEE and is managed by members who share day to day management responsibilities. Every member is trained to be knowledgeable in all spheres of the business to have an all round understanding of the business. The organisation is family owned and managed, with the second generation now at the helm.
Rampatse Makhudu
Makhudu SR Transport founder and chief executive Rampatse Makhudu is a self made entrepreneur and has wealth of experience in business and business management. He has managed the business from inception in 1986 to date and is the major shareholder of the company with 90% share ownership. Rampatse started out with selling coal to the local community and as the business grew he branched out into different industries starting out with road construction around the country. After that he then moved into the rubble removal industry and focused on working alongside developers offering the rubble removal services within their construction projects. In 2008 he entered the waste management field with Pikitup and most recently skip bins with the skip bin hire division. He has strategically grown every sector of the business and has achieved overall growth with constant reinvestment into the business by acquiring newer fleet and instilling strict financial discipline. He is now still involved in the operations and is responsible for the development and strategy, marketing strategy and customer relations of the company.
Dolphin Makhudu
Dolphin Makhudu is a managing member within the organisation and is responsible for the day to day running of the operation within the transport, rubble removal and waste management division. He is also responsible for the development, strategy and growth of the organisation. He has a wealth of experience in the transport industry and brings about fleet management experience within the organisation. After completing his logistics degree he moved into the car rental industry (Avis Rent a Car) where he rose through the ranks to become to a Dispatch supervisor. In this capacity he was responsible for fleet planning and management for the off airport locations.
Palesa Makhudu
Palesa Makhudu is an active member within the organisation and has been with the company since 2012. She is responsible for the management and marketing of the skip bin division. She is also responsible for the administrative work as well as the human resource requirements of the company. She brings about a wealth of experience dealing with customers from promo work and other roles she has been involved in. Palesa holds an honours degree in Industrial and organisational psychology.
Waste management
The company was contracted to Pikitup under the supervision of Masetlaoke Scott -Wilson in 2008 focusing on rehabilitation of illegal dumps, Cleaning and collection of waste and issuing bin liners (compacted and non compacted waste). We managed to move an average 30000 cubic meters of rubble to the dumping sites per year. We also completed a 3 year contract with Pikitup cleaning informal settlements under the Zondi Depot in Soweto from 2009 to 2012. We are currently working with Phakisa World at various Pikitup Depots cleaning illegal dumps, street cleaning and compacted waste.
Rubble removal, Site clearing, Demolitions and Transport
In this division we have worked with numerous developers in providing rubble removal services in their development projects. We have done site clearing and demolition projects with companies such as Carlop construction, Ingwenya demolition and Stratford construction to name a few. In the transportation sector we have been working with companies like Grindrod intermodal and Transmac in the transportation of materials like crusher run and plaster sand within the mines as well as manganese and wheat to the relevant locations. This is a fairly new avenue which will be a main focus for us in the near future.
Skip Bin Hire
In expansion of our waste management services we have moved into the skip bin hire industry. We hire out skip bins at the most affordable rates. We have an option of a once off bin hire as well as a monthly contract option should you need the bin on a monthly basis. Our clients include companies like Cashbuild, Fikile construction and Base one. We also cater for the regular customers requiring the bins for whatever your need is and we let you keep the bin for 7 days. There are however some restrictions in what is allowed and not allowed in the bins. E.g. no setting fires in the bins, no butchery waste and medical waste. We offer the best service while ensuring environmentally sound practices.
